Visa Discounts its Discount for Gasoline Purchases

Visa logoVisa lowered its discount rate today for processing and rate charges today, capping Visa consumer credit card interchange fees at $0.95 per transaction.

This applies only to U.S. gasoline consumers and is expected to save $0.13 to just under a dollar in gasoline fees generated by the interchange rate with each fill-up.

Despite Economic Turmoil, Visa Ends Strong in 2008

Visa Inc. recently announced a nearly $450 million net income in financial reports for its fourth quarter of 2008, ending Sept. 30.visa fouth quarter up

The company's net operating revenue for the quarter was $1.7 billion dollars. The company reported these revenues were "driven by strong contributions from service fees, data processing fees, and international transaction fees."

American Express to be Licensed as A Bank Holding Company

The U.S. Federal Reserve recently approved American Express to become a bank holding company, falling under Federal Reserve regulatory oversight.

A U.S. bank holding company can vote 25 percent or more of a class of security of a bank.
